Liberté Natural Foods Inc. Committed to the Living Planet Community

Established in 1928, Liberté is a leading dairy company that manufactures both conventional and organic dairy products. In April 2007, Liberté Brand Products became a proud supporter of WWF-Canada's conservation programs, and are proud to continue their support through the Living Planet Community.

When you buy Liberté products, you are making a choice that is both healthy for you and for the planet. Liberté has adopted a life cycle approach in undertaking environmental analyses for all Liberté brand products, to reduce the environmental impact of production, shipping and packaging. The Green Action sustainable development logo is a reflection of this policy

Reducing the distance their products travel from farm to table is just one of the many ways Liberté have reduced their carbon footprint. Almost 99% of Liberté yogourts are in large, reusable and recyclable tubs that contain less plastic than the smaller thermoform unrecyclable formats often used by competitors.

Liberté also offers a drinkable yogourt in a carton that is both recyclable and biodegradable, which has much less of a negative environmental impact than plastic bottles. The drinkable yogourt is also organic, and a welcomed addition to any school lunch box, offering a tasty way for kids to get their essential calcium.

This year, Liberté Brand Products is establishing a Sustainable Development Action Plan that will incorporate economic, social and environmental target objectives. The company recently received the Recycle Quebec certification for its two manufacturing plants.

Liberté and Western brands see the sustainable protection of the environment not only as an opportunity, but also as an obligation. It's good business, and it's healthy for consumers and healthy for the planet.
