Be a group leader!

Are you and a bunch of friends, colleagues, teammates or neighbours ready to make a positive difference to the planet? Are you inspired to lead them?

Great. Do it!

First of all, talk to a group of friends, teammates or professional colleagues about the Living Planet Community and creating a group to reduce climate change together. Then, become a member and click on "Create a Group" from your "My Account" page. You can send invitations to other Community members or to anyone in your address book!

Once they have joined, members can start choosing actions on the site. The results will get tallied up together and your group will start seeing big greenhouse gas savings. Not only will members get to see how their own personal actions are helping the planet, they'll also be able to encourage others and spread the word.

Members can chat with each other on the site and you can challenge other groups to encourage some friendly competition!

Here's some tips for starting up a successful group:

  • Tell members that being part of a group is easy, but making lifestyle changes is tougher. That's why joining a group where members encourage each other makes it easier and more rewarding.
  • Make sure one or two other members of the group are really motivated and passionate about greenhouse gas savings. They can help you both recruit other members and keep existing members excited.
  • Set goals for your group and plan on monitoring and communicating that progress, rewarding everyone for their efforts and celebrating your successes.
  • Keep the mood positive. Members are more likely to join - and stay involved - if your group is fun, motivating and non-judgmental.
